First Aid Training and Defib Training

First Aid Training is one of the most practical life skills an individual can learn. Although you may be sent on a first aid course as part of your job the skills you learn may be put into practice performing first aid on your friends or family.

Good Skills Training are excellent at delivering first aid training in a fun way that helps our learners become safe, prompt, effective and confident first aiders. The feedback we receive from our first aid courses is often along the lines of “the best first aid course I have ever been on.”

We are HSE approved and are able to deliver the full HSE First Aid at Work Course, HSE First Aid at Work Requalification Course and HSE Emergency First Aid at Work Course. We also deliver the Annual Refresher First Aid Course strongly recommended by the HSE for all first aiders.

Good Skills Training also delivers specialist first aid courses specifically for people who look after children. This includes Paediatric First Aid Courses as required by OFSTED for the Early Years Foundation Framework. We are on the framework of suppliers for both Kent County Council and Hertfordshire County Council for Paediatric First Aid training and also have extensive experience in delivering Paediatric First Aid Courses to individual settings for their staff.  On top of this Good Skills Training have developed a First Aid for Schools Course specifically aimed at schools staff and a First Aid Course for Foster Carers looking at carrying out first aid at home and whilst out and about with foster children.

Good Skills Training are also registered with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) to deliver the RYA First Aid Course. This course is delivered by water based instructors who have all been involved in water sports for over 20 years.

Defib Training run by Good Skills Training follows the syllabus recommended by the Resuscitation Council for AED users. This training gives learners the confidence to assist someone who has stopped breathing and increase their chances of survival.

Health and Safety Training

Health and Safety Training is a legal requirement. The level and type of training will depend on the type of work an individual undertakes and their role within the organisation. Here at Good Skills Training we can run Health and Safety Courses at Level 1 (induction level), Level 2 (basic level, recommended general course for employees) and Level 3 (for supervisors). We are also able to write and deliver bespoke courses to meet your specific needs. Other focussed courses include our manual handling courses, risk assessment courses and COSHH courses.

Fire Safety Training

It is a requirement that staff receive fire safety training under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The level of fire safety training will depend on your role. Good Skills Training offers 3 courses. The Basic Fire Awareness Course is a general course for employees that let them know how to prevent a fire and what action to take in the event of a fire. The Fire Marshall Course is for those who have been given this important and responsible role. This course covers the legal responsibilities required of organisations and fire marshals. The Fire Extinguisher Course gives learners the technical knowhow in using a fire extinguisher and other fire fighting equipment available to employees. Another requirmeent under this regulation is that a Fire Risk Asssessment is carried out. Good Skills Training are able to help you with this if required. Please see our consultancy services page.
